2012..a fresh start online

Hey peeps! It's really been such a long while since I last blogged. This question has been popping in and out of my head since "Shall I continue blogging my creations since I hardly scrap these days?" But today, I have decided to start afresh in this new year although I may hardly scrap but the thought of sharing with you out there still feels great. So hence the new look!

My scrapping buddies and me have started with a self-motivated challenge amongst ourselves. So this is what I will share with you all here later.

Also I have just ordered Becky Higgins Project Life from Scraplicious. So am eager to get my hands on them and get started.

There may also be good news on the way but this will have to hold till the right time when I may just share it here.

I tried Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's Travel Pocket Journal which was taught last month. I liked it so much that I made 2 journals. And it's a really good way to destash those many PPs that we love to hoard.

I gave Iman the one on the left for her school project - 5-day holiday diary. This featured the Making Memories Noteworthy collection. I used about 7 PPs here...all of different designs. The other journal you see here features the Prima Strawberry Kisses Collection and Flights of Fancy Collection. It's now waiting to be filled with my travel notes....

I've been wanting to scrap this pic of my pretty niece, Aqilah...and while browsing through my stash of Prima PPs, I found a perfect one for this pic. A bit of cutting had to be done to help achieve the look I wanted. And I'm glad this turned out just the way I wanted it.

Aqilah is now into anything fairies and butterflies...so this really suited her well.

Nadya is just a few months younger than her cousin, Anisa. When they are together, they click well. Captured this moment during Hari Raya 2010.

Halfway doing this the mojo almost gave up...but I wasn't gonna just stop there. I had to let the mojo juices flowing...be it perfect or not :D

Sparkle In My Heart

Greetings my lovelies!

Talk about being in hiatus....shheeessh!! I've got this hard to predict "swings" where I can come up with a number of layouts at a time and then after none at all for the longest time .... and then a 1 layout in a blue moon phase... hehehehehe!

Well whatever it is...as long as I enjoy what I do :)

In December, I went through an experience I've never felt before. I had a miscarriage. Although it was still in my early stages of pregnancy, the feeling after having been through that affected me emotionally. That kind of escalated my feeling of being off scrapping as well. I was experiencing sadness inside but tried to put up a happy front to the world. The physical aftereffects from my "lost" felt the same as if I had given birth already. Caring family and friends chided and said I should look after myself as if I were in after-birth confinement. However, it's now 3 months since and I have overcome this....as what they say, "Life still goes on".

Anyway, now after seeing many inspirations from my creative friends, I am back with a layout I'd quickly whipped up this afternoon with my new Prima goodies.

This time I did not include my journaling in it.

Yes...yes...another layout of my little Nadya. Well, in fact she's now a big girl and coming 5 years old in a few months time. This pic of her here is when she was 3 years old (I think...I'd forgotten to record the date of this pic)

I just got my new papers and blings from this new online store we have locally called Happy Scrappers. Do check it out! It's now got the Prima stuff but will soon be filling its inventory with other yummy brands!

My layout is also based on a sketch that Alin created for Scrap Inspire Create. Her sketches are really fun to play with! SIC's March challenge is also the end of the SIC DTs stint. It was really an honour to have featured wonderful inspirational scrappers from other parts of the world. We had Jolene from USA, Ytet from the Philippines, Yuko from Japan and our very own talented Bruneian scrapper, Janiah.

Right..I'm back on my scraptable and creating a travel pocket journal which I found at Live With Prima and I think this is really good for recording your daily journal of your holidays. Now with the school term holiday that has just started, I'll be creating this fun book for myself and the kids to fill in.

Being on de-stashing mode, the 3rd challenge for the Happy Scrappers was to create a layout with Basic Grey PP and it also has to include at least 1 stamp. Here's one I did using a PP from the Two Scoops collection.

Found this blinged ribbon buckle in my stash. Bought in 2006 when I first started scrapbooking

My dear friend, Janiah who has given much lovely scrapping inspirations to me and others invited us Happy Scrappers to do a 2-hour challenge. It was decided on the spur 2 nights ago. The challenge was also to prompt us to use our older PPs (to make way for new ones...*grin*) and the PP we had to use was Websters Pages.
I wasn't able to complete my LO in the 2-hour time frame but it was quite a flexible challenge as we were actually challenging ourselves not any others. I completed the layout early yesterday morning. Here's my take...

And I actually crumpled my paper...it somehow break my heart to crumple them precious papers...hee!

ScrapInspireCreate is now hosting another cool challenge. Your SB layout is to be about a landmark or scenery. And it has a nice twist to it - you need to put your journaling in a mini accordion album on your layout.
Here's my take

Stamped a frame (Anna Griffin) and layered on top of it the 7Gypsies rub-on

The butterfly chipboards were given from a friend. Distressed them with TH Distress Inks and then smudged them with Stickles

Still loving those Prima pearls

Developed the pic in colour and also in BW then cut them up and made combi of both

She Is...Sweetness Original

I have finally found the right photo to go with this sweet Websters Pages PP. I purposely left quite a big white space no matter how tempting it was to want to fill it. The only thing missing (which is usually not me) is the journaling here. My journaling mojo is just not there. I often have to really squeeze those brain juices when it comes to title and journaling. But I always make it a point to include these 2 elements as these records the moments of the photo/s.

Totally in full gear to scrap another layout...I spent most of my Sunday yesterday on my scrap table and in front of the TV with my K-drama on (watching Princess Jamyung).

It was Prima mode on and being totally inspired by the girlfriends after our Saturday fun crop, I've finished this layout totally satisfied. Quite an effort to cut that frame out from the Prima PP.

Used a few old stash - MM sentimental chipboards, fabric label, XOXO glitter sticker, 7Gypsies rub-on

It surely feels wonderful to be scrapping in full momentum.

HS Fun Crop = A Scrapping Blast!

Oh my! It's already Monday and I really am missing my weekend so much!
The recent weekend was an absolute blast when the girlfriends came by. It was all sorts galore! The scrapping, the chit-chatting just catching up with each other and most of all the FOOD!!
It has been a long time since we last gather for a crop so you can imagine the amount of catching up. We had a dress theme as well - Black, Red & White. Food was potluck and the most awaited dish was the Chicken with Shitake Mushroom Sauce. Yumssss!!

Anyway, 2 SB challenges and 1 Make-N-Take were planned for this crop. But we managed to only complete the 1st challenge. Our 1st challenge was a photo challenge and all scrappers were given the same photo. The photo is a group photo of the Happy Scrappers taken sometime in August 2009 (I think!). Despite most of us complained that we have not been scrapping for quite a while (hence, no mojo)....well...everybody did so well and produced absolutely fabulous layouts!! I was amazed at the outcome of each and every take. Really left me in awe!

And here's my take

There wasn't enough time to create the 2nd challenge but as it was a Swap Stash challenge, we just did the swapping amongst ourselves and created the layout at home. As my mojo was on full throttle, I created this layout that same night too and stayed till 3 a.m. as I was just so eager to do it. I didn't even felt sleepy when I did this.

Swap Stash ~ Journaling stamped on chipboard, Bling swirl, 2 PPs (die-cut PP & cut out leaves), black frame rub-on, peach flower ribbon strand (cut each flower and stuck them on the swirl and leaves)
Very simple LO.

My Iman didn't wanna miss the scrapping fun and did this layout all by herself...note the touch of real leaves plucked from my plant :)

Mojo was still in top form so why put it to waste, right. I scrapped another LO on Sunday after being inspired by the HS babes the day before. I shall share this in my next post. Thanks for popping by!

23 Mar '10 (1st day on our KL Trip)

Having a digital camera has its disadvantages. You take TOO MANY pictures! hahaha!!

In March, we went for a family holiday to KL. And of course you guessed it...we took way too many pictures there. Eager to start an album I developed the pics taken on our 1st day when we arrived in KL. But I never started creating my album yet....heh! Anyway, I thought instead I'll scrap a 12x12 layout with the pics that I have. (will work on the album another time)

I find matting my photos always helps to emphasise my photos in the LO

Boat Ride

In July, I brought the kids for a day's worth of some Brunei experience as we had a visitor who was visiting Brunei for the first time. Brought Iman and Nadya as we visited the Royal Regalia in town. Nabilah and Syafiee joined us later when we were about to embark from the town's main jetty to go for our Kampong Ayer's boat ride. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the ride and it was great being able to capture a few shots of them including this of Iman.

Used the Webster's Pages Seaside Retreat collection - the cut-out of the boats were very appropriate for this LO

Best Friends - Iman & Aqilah

Last year was the final year Iman's bestfriend, Aqilah stayed in Stella's School. She had successfully passed the Sekolah Arab Entrance Examinations in 2009 and was accepted to continue her Primary studies (Year 5 & 6) right up to Secondary at the Arabic School here in Brunei.

Iman was quite sad when she knew about this although she put up a brave face when I asked her if she will miss Aqilah when school ends. I asked her this last year. This was our conversation:

Iman: Mama, Aqilah will be going to Sekolah Arab next year

Me: You mean Aqilah sat for her Periksa Calon Sekolah Arab? And she passed?

Iman: Yes

Me: So, will you miss her when she goes next year?

Iman: Y...e...ssss (answers melodiously while putting on an "I'm ok" face)

I was quite sad to learn about this news as these 2 girls were very close and Aqilah is really such a sweetie. A well-disciplined girl, smart and very well brought up in religious principles. 2010 came...Iman and Aqilah went their own ways in school life. However, Aqilah never forgot Iman and actually persuaded her parents to send her to our house one day. They've met twice eversince. I hope Iman and Aqilah will continue to cherish this special friendship till forever.

To record this friendship, I created this layout for Iman. Iman was so happy when I showed the completed LO and said "Thank you, mama!" accompanied by exactly that same smile you see in these photos here.

Flowers were glimmer misted to the colours I wanted - they were originally raw white. The only flowers not glimmer misted are the pastel green (in the middle) and the light pink paper flower.

Sibling Love

Oh yes...the creative mood has definitely settled in and here I am sharing with you another layout I did. I was taking my sweet time planning out this page. This is one of those rare times when I actually planned the placement of the elements in the layout. I started the LO on Friday and after being satisfied with the placement, stuck them on yesterday evening (after a good afternoon catching up with Eirnna & Pinah).
Did some cut-outs from the DCWV Mariposa collection (this collection is butterfly-overload!). The background PP is a Prima from the Annalee collection.

If you're one of those scrappers who just loves flowers and swirls...having your stash full of just Prima goodies is a must!

My Cute Duo

My 2 younger kids, Iman & Nadya, just loves it being in front of the camera. But you may agree with me that most kids nowadays are just naturals posing for the camera. It's like when you pull out a camera and there they are ready with their pose. Nadya may just grow up to be a cam-babe...at the age of 3, she was already taking her own pic with my little camera. And Iman has this habit of pulling a funny face instantly just before the camera snaps - almost like a reflex action.

Here is just one of the many photos of my cute duo. My layout is based on my sketch featured at SIC's October challenge. You can view the sketch here.

When I saw this green cardstock, it reminded me of this dear scrapping friend who often features green in her work. Always loving her work, I have often told myself that I should try to scrap in green as it is a beautiful colour to play with. Yes...I usually find that I tend to scrap in pinks and reds as these colours are easier for me to use as my layout base.

The lovely birdcage sticker is from Momoyo. Bought that and a few more other stickers from Popular bookstore in Miri.

What's In Your Bag today??

Go on...take them out and lay them next to your handbag and take a pic or two of this. My scrapping friends from SIL shared their LOs for their current October challenge and I thought "Hey, this is a cool one to do!". So that was what I did....I took a few shots of my bag-of-the-day and its contents, told myself to just be brave and shared this with the rest of you in my layout.

What I had in my bag on 2 October 2010:

my wallet (of course)
coin purse
my phone and its little pouch
phone charger (yes! I bring it everywhere I go)
my small Canon camera
lipstick (in case a touch up is needed)
ballpoint pen
Watson wipes

Those white Prima paper flowers are just so great to glimmer mist. Used Turquoise Blue and Timeless Lilac and stuck a pearl bead on each. I also Stickled behind the "petals" of the Maya Road doily and that served as not only effect but also adhesive when I stuck it on the LO

Got these pretty raw die-cuts from Eirnna and played with Tim Holtz distress inks. Loving the effect it gives :)

Had fun creating this LO as I needed some sort of challenge to kickstart me back to scrapping. Next to share will be the little gifts I did for Iman and Nadya's teachers. Stay tuned!!

My crafts... (just ranting)

Hi peeps!
Yes yes....I have been in hiatus for a very very long time.
Well life has been good with its ups and downs and overall I still feel blessed in some ways.
My heart has always been set to try new things in life though I don't really mean ALL new things. Yes leave the totally adventurous to do that....but yes, I do like to try in my kind of way.

Craft hobbies has always been set in my heart without me realising (it somehow grew on me)....cross-stitch has always been a favourite eversince I was little. Thanks to my mother who introduced this to me when I was just a girl. And now scrapbooking has stolen my heart too! Lately, I have tried out beading after having learned from a dear friend of mine last year. And the recent Hari Raya celebrations had me played with my daughters' clothes prior to that. Another few more crafts which I'm keen to play with now is crochet, jewelry beading, patchwork...although I don't know whether I'll get my hands on all. With crochet, I have been taught the basics by my mom when I was little but never really got to make a little doily. But one day I will try more new crafts....

Anyway, here's just sharing a few of beadwork I attempted on Nadya's and Iman's baju kurong during Ramadhan. I'm still struggling to accomplish lovely beadworks but that will require some time.

mainly cos I had a problem logging onto the internet with my lappy. I just hope my lappy is behaving well now.

Was also tied up with organising a little celebration for this little Dora the Explorer fan.

I have to admit that I haven't been scrapping since the beginning of this month. I have been picking up on my cross-stitch now. It's a project that I can imagine will probably take me a while to complete...heehehee :D

Now that I think my lappy is finally ok as far as being connected to the internet, there's this blog that will be updated soon. I'll be posting up a lil sneakie on it. There's where I'm heading after publishing this post. So see you there!!

Scrap-It-Lah's 6th Blog Hop Challenge

I had targetted myself to complete 2 layouts this week. But those creative juices just came a few hours ago just when the weekend has arrived. But I was determined to do a layout despite starting on it so late. And I've actually completed it! I played along at Scrap-It-Lah which has just ended their month long Blog Hop Challenge where the final challenge was hosted by DT Jessy.

Here are a few more close-ups:

Although this pic is a bit blurred but I just love this sweet photo of Nadya and have been waiting for the right time to scrap it. Now I have and I'm loving this outcome. The lace cardstock (originally green in colour) was painted with white acrylic paint and then glimmer-misted with Walnut Gold.

Btw, I've just realised both my close up pics are of the same part of the LO...just at different angles...hehehe!!

Now for the next layout...
....think I'll start on that tomorrow....

What a good weekend this is! The girlfriends came over and we had absolute scrapping fun. The chit-chatting and laughing our hearts away was BLISS... We missed some of them :(

...Wish you babes were around...we missed you..

Prior to the crop, each of us prepared our own little kit which was to be swapped amongst ourselves. I got her kit and I love the papers she's put in it. Gorgeous!! This is a photo of Iman when she was about a year old. It was absolute fun we shared creating from each others kits...and it was just lovely to see how all the layouts turned out.

Thank goodness mojo was still around...that crop was definitely a mojo booster...and last night, I completed a layout which I'd left for 2 days lying on my scraptable. I was determined to play along in this challenge. It is the 5th Blog Hop Challenge and this time hosted by this dear friend. Mojo had left me and probably went to "visit" another scrapper....but it came back to help me finish up this layout. A simple one but I'm glad I completed it.

And with mojo still hanging around today, I made a little card for my cute lil niece who is celebrating her birthday today. Happy Birthday Sweet Pumpkin Pie Nasha!

Scrap-It-Lah's 4th Blog Hop Challenge

Mojo has been great these past few days and I'm definitely a happy scrapper. Last night, I completed a 12x12 layout based on a challenge that's currently happening.

I popped by this scrapper's blog who is a DT for Scrap-It-Lah Challenge Blog. Yatie has always managed to leave one full of inspirations when you see her beautiful projects. She is currently hosting SIL's 4th blog hop challenge in conjunction with its anniversary. There'll be more blog hop challenges from their other DTs this April.

I thought Yatie's challenge is really cool as you've got to create a layout using the products of 10 manufacturers. What more...I do need to use my SB stash that has been lying around - "stash busting" as one scrapper puts it *wink* so off I went and embarked on this challenge. I had absolute FUN!! And what's most important is the sense of satisfaction having completed it while mojo was being great. What more can a scrapper ask for.

Here's my take for Yatie's challenge:

These manufacturers are featured (there are 13 altogether...hee!):

a. Bazzill Basics - Cardstocks (both the pink and green for the layout base, dark brown for the photo mat)

b. Tsukineko - Versamagic to ink the torn edges of the green cardstock

The weekend's here!! Have you got anything planned?

SIC has just announced their March winner. Congratulations Jeanie!! Her winning layout is beautiful with the dreamy pic and the lovely Prima PP and flowers. She even cleverly placed her stamped musical notes as part of the photo frame.

Anyway, I've decided to try and kickstart my creative momentum this month. Hence, my self-initiated April Creative Drive. So far I have done 2 6x6 LOs and a 12x12 (for SIC). Now I'm in the midst of doing an altered creation which is from my January BadGirls kit.

Here's sharing my latest 6x6:

It was my first time cutting out a photo. This is a picture of Iman when she was about 4 years old.

Sprayed on Tattered Angels "Burnt Red" glimmer mist on a Buzz & Bloom toadstool chipboard

Layered some paper flowers and attached this cute piece with the pink flower's wire stalk through the cardstock

I have always loved rub-ons and these Basic Grey ones are no exception

I had some leftover scraps of my Prima Patische PP so tore the edges and inked it

Found some scraps of those BG Romani papers...beautiful collection

Had the CS primed with gesso first before putting a layer of white acrylic paint and then spraying with "Walnut Gold" glimmer mist first and then "S.W.A.K" glimmer mist

Before this, I created a very simple 6x6 LO - one of my cute nephew when he was about 2 years old. I hope to share this soon.

SIC's 2nd Anniversary Celebration

Hello all!

I know I was supposed to reveal my take on the SIC challenge on Sunday but just didn't got round to opening up my blog. I have not been feeling too good for the last week or so...I think what I'm experiencing right now is the after-effects of my bad cough (which lasted for 2 weeks). I'll need to go visit the doc tomorrow.

ScrapInspireCreate made its debut in the SB world in April 2008. SIC was honoured to be able to feature very inspiring scrappers as Guest DTs, Creative Crew and of course the scrappers who played along and submitted their creations. Being a one-(wo)man show behind maintaining this blog monthly proved a challenge by itself that I was at a point of considering closing the blog. But with the great (and very priceless) moral support of scrapping friends around me, I have decided that SIC has to stay. And SIC is back hoping to be better than ever with a Residence Crew that will be maintaining this blogsite. I am very honoured to have Vivs and Alin to join forces with me in this effort to make SIC a fun scrapping place for all you scrappers.

And what more...SIC has just turned 2 this month. So we've got fun activities for you this month...but it doesn't stop there... So make sure you come and play along with us at SIC!

Anyway, not to keep you waiting any longer, here is my take for the SIC April Challenge entitled "Brand Challenge".

My take is based on Set A of the challenge in which I am to use products from 3 brands listed in this set - K & Co, Webster's Pages and Prima Marketing. No other brands are to be featured in this. The added challenge Side Twist was to do something significant with 2 (two). I took the simple take of using 2 photos.

Here are a few close ups...

This was proven a task for me in trying to figure how to do the layout title. I rummaged through my really old stash of K & Co's Brenda Walton Chipboard (think I got it in 2006) and found this sweet title.

The butterflies were cut from Webster's Pages journal notes. I cut a Prima Got Flower in two and stuck each half under each side of the smaller butterfly.

Stuck on a little K&Co die-cut birdie on lovely Prima flowers.

And who could ever resist these lovely Prima swirls...well I can't! :-)

This was indeed a challenge for me being restricted to just 3 brands in the layout. But I had definite FUN in trying to put all the elements together to create this layout.

Oooooo....I had my hands on absolutely gorgeous papers and flowers that I just couldn't resist but play with them. Prima is such a household name in the scrapping world and who wouldn't fall in love with them.

Here's the view of the full layout I did yesterday...had fun just concentrating on creating this while watching Disc 7 of Queen Seon Duk. Was truly satisfied with the outcome.

This is also my submission for a layout I owe for the online crop in BS Forum which is way overdue. It was my challenge idea entitled "My Muse". Now I've got 3 more layouts to submit.

Altered creations 2010

Hey peeps!

Last weekend, I've finally managed to organise my scrap table and have things in a more orderly manner. But what I really aim to do is organise a hobby room. But now I'm beginning to think whether I should have a hobby room downstairs when in fact I'm usually upstairs with the family.

Anyway, after organising my scrap table I suddenly had a creative surge to do something. I had ProvoCraft 9" letter 'J' given by Jane back in 2007 (I think!) and had never got round to alter it till now.

Over the weekend, I also popped by Underten to get a few Ikea boxes for my scrap table. Bought a few Ikea mugs which I thought would be good to alter (inspired by Wati who gave me an altered Ikea mug).

I altered a mug without actually thinking of the design or style but instead I just stuck on embellies. What I was doing was actually helping to relax my mind. And it does help! I had a long day at work so this actually got my mind to wind down and relax.

it's a new year, a new home

(well not really new as in NEW)

Anyway, I've just about settled in my new home now. The best thing about where I live is that it's right next to my parents. Who couldn't be a happier gal! And my kids absolutely love it being here.

I am waiting patiently for 2 rooms to be cleared now. One will be my hobby room and the other my lil 'biz' room *winks*

The hubby has temporarily stored our boxes of all sorts in them and he's clearing them out slowly whenever he has the time. Once that's done, then I'll be cleaning and organising them. *eagerly waiting*

Till then...have a pleasant rest of the week!

After such a long hiatus, here I am back again blogging. I'll be posting my creations which I must admit I do not create in great frequency.

Anyway, here's sharing what I've done lately from a weekend online crop on BS Forum we had last weekend. It was a 3 nights online crop which lasted for 2-3 hours each night. We had 2 layout ideas posted each night - which means each scrapper ends up with 6 layouts to create. I had fun hosting it whilst scrapping at the same time.

On the 1st night, layout idea #1 was about NOSTALGY. Scrappers were to create a nostalgic layout - one that's based on their memories. This was mine...this pic is of me and my niece, Aqilah, who is now 5 years old. I love how this moment was captured by my sis-in-law.

The 2nd layout was based on EMOTIONS. I found this pic of Nabilah when she was 8 months plus (about 12 years ago). She looked like as if she was winking...actually, I'm not exactly sure what emotion she was showing.

For our 2nd evening of the crop, the 3rd layout for the weekend was based on the colours GREEN and RED - as it was Christmas Day that day :-)

For the 4th layout, scrappers were to scrap their take derived from the layout theme: FAMILY. I took this opportunity to scrap about my parents and their grandchildren. Since the time of the pic, we had 2 more additions to the family.

Our last and final evening, we had another set of simple easy-to-scrap themes. The 5th layout was to scrap about what 2009 meant to the scrapper. 2009 held plenty of memories for me - happy ones, sad ones... And one of my happy 2009 moments was being given the opportunity to go to KL when the hubby was on a course there. I had a great time spent with Nad as our tour guide while the hubby was preoccupied with a full course schedule. It was great as we were brought sight-seeing "Nad's way" *wink*. And here's one moment captured of little Nadya and Nad. The 2 Nads finally met! And most of all, both Iman and Nadya loved it going out with Auntie Nad. Both wanna be like Auntie Nad!! hehehehehe....

The final layout idea is a ME layout. Scrappers were to scrap about themselves and also list at least 5 things about themselves. By then, the mojo left but came back yesterday...and I'm glad it stayed cos I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome for this layout.

It was overall a great and enjoyable crop we had. We may once again do this crop probably at the end of this month. So if anybody wanna join, keep yourself posted at Brunei Scrappers Forum when we'll announce the next online crop.

Happy Sunday everyone!
How is your weekend so far?

I had the babes (well...and Sparian too) came over for a get together ~ cropping, chatting and eating were the main agenda of the day. It was great catching up with each other...while some (or rather one) was busy trying to recruit new FarmTown addicts! hahahaha!! *wink wink*

Anyway, as promised in my earlier post, here's sharing with you what I got from Nad. Such a lovely altered canvas....painted and sprayed and sprinkled with gold leaves. A bit unfortunate though, the chipboard bird has its tail bent during its journey :-(

It is now sitting proudly in my scrappers area (a.k.a. my dining area).

This is an easy one as it's an altering challenge.

You just need to alter a piece of clipboard and submit it to SIC before the 3rd of August. One more thing you've gotta do when you submit your piece...you just need to let SIC know what your altered clipboard will be used for after that. That's all! As simple as that!

It has been a long time since I took part in tags....was just being a totally lazy bum...hee hee!

Did another engagement folder....

...for the same lady last night. I was away when she texted me last week to say that she has been told that she needs another engagement folder (refer to my previous post).

Anyway, this time I decided to use a lovely present paper because it's much thinner (than the K&Co wedding patterned paper used in the previous folder) and hence easier to handle especially at the scored parts of the folder.

(ooh....and spot the error in it! hee!!)

When the soon-to-be-engaged lady came to collect the folder today, she told me that coincidentally the "barang-barang" for the engagement tomorrow are also decorated with butterflies. Coolness!!

This close-up shows 2 pearly buds that I got at a place I'm loving...the ribbons & beads shop in KL. Thanks Nad for showing it to me!

These cute little flowers were also bought from the same shop.

I thought I owe a post especially to those who have been popping by all this while and find that it's still those pics of Nadya.

Hee hee!! Sorry dears!

I've finally did some scrapping....actually more on altered stuff rather than layouts.

I had a lady who asked me to do an 'engagement folder' for her. And also another folder for her soon-to-be "tunang". So glad to know that she loved it. And she's recently asked me to do 1 more folder before her engagement ceremony which is just around the corner. Aaaargghh!! Panic panic!

Here are the 2 simple folders I did. The 1st one is to be feminine and the 2nd one masculine.

I had a lovely week last week as I finally got to meet (and talked on the phone) with those lovely ladies from Semenanjung.

Had a great time "sight-seeing" - Naddy's way! hahahaha!!

To Naddy ~ thanks babe for such a great time! I really appreciate your time and everything..hugs.....

To Mich ~ babe...it was lovely to be able to meet you again....and thanks for Transformers and Wii and everything...hee hee!

As my scrapping is basically still in dormant mode, I thought I'll just share some pics I've just taken of Nadya a few hours ago. When I looked at these pics, I then realised that my little girl is growing.....FAST!!!

I will soon need to register her for kindergarten next year... :(

With my scrapping still mojoless as ever (for the longest time)....I am now trying out a new handicraft hobby ~ sewing beads (thought I won't call it beading cos it's usually related to creating jewel accessories).

I am currently sewing on Iman's old baju kurong before I start on new clothes for Hari Raya this year. It's a cool hobby and I'm loving it! Was inspired by some scrapping buddies ~ this lady and this one too ~ but have a long way to go before I'm in the same league as them. I've bought plenty of beads but still there's more to buy and more colours to have! Doesn't that sound like stocking up on scrapping stash when you first start to scrap? :grin:

Have been such a lazy one to blog and thus have also been a bad blog-hopper too!

To those who often drop by here, my sincere apologies as there's nothing new to read...hee!

It's the same like scrapping, the blogging mojo has just not been by for quite a while now.

I have a scrapping target to stick to and my scrapping is pretty much on a standstill. Pause mode (for the longest time!) Not to worry I'll be back when the time comes. But I'm taking things as it is. I really can't force myself to scrap, right....

It has been ages since I sat at my scrap table. Life is still busy as always and there is less 'me' time. Hence, there was nothing to share in the blog...no scrapping creations.

But actually I have a few things I wanna share in this blog....a few hand-made gifts from lovely friends. Oh! and also a book I did at a book-making class by this artistic cousin.

After what I felt like ages since the last hang-out with the girlfriends, we had a relaxing crop yesterday. Have been missing their company. We agreed to do a scrap-lift from a sketch from Scrapbooks Etc. Page Planners.

We only did 1 layout as most of the time we spent were just chit-chatting and enjoying each other's company. This sweet lady brought yummy carrot cake that she made herself! And it was absolutely delicious (fresh and just so so yummy!!) Nadya loved it too...and had several slices herself.

and yes...finally did a layout. This was my take on the sketch we did yesterday.

Note the lovely die-cut butterflies in the layout...thank you Din!

The butterflies are die-cuts made from her Cuttlebug Die-Cut & Embossing Folders. They are really lovely!

We missed a few of the girlfriends who couldn't make it yesterday but nevertheless we still had a fab time. Hey babes...we really missed you guys la! (you know you are!)

Well that's what it is right now for me...not because mojo is on strike but rather cos I have no time to "layan" my mojo at the moment! LOL!!

Lots of things happening around me as some friends are aware of already.

I am without a helper...hence my time online is almost nil. I am grateful that DH tries to help out as much as he can but his work is highly demanding at a time like this when Brunei is experiencing heavy rain and unusual high tide levels. Flash floods have already occurred and landslides are happening in many places. More are expected to occur again! DH can be away for almost 24 hours in a stretch. This is quite common for us already for many years.

So with 4 kids, it is pretty much a juggle to handle them almost single-handedly.......and that's just organising them. On the way to work each morning, Nadya has to be sent to her granny and Nabilah to school. DH sends the other 2 on his way to work. Then in the evening comes the washing, ironing, and cooking. I haven't begun to do the rest of the housework! Anyway, I'll probably get hold of a freelance helper to come in at least once a week to help out with the cleaning.

I am however grateful that Nabilah is a great help and I am able to rely on her to help me carry out certain work.

Don't get me wrong! I do enjoy that I have no helper at the moment as this way I can get the kids to be more responsible in helping out with the housework (although I don't expect them to take on all as they do have their school work to think about)...what's more, there's more privacy for us as a family.

So don't be surprised if I go quiet for a few days and then re-appear and then to go quiet again. Hee!!

Ok...I need to log off now and get ready to go to bed. It's another early day tomorrow!

Brunei Scrappers Forum is currently having a door hanger swap. I did my door hanger for my swap partner, Byby. I didn't manage to take a pic of it before I gave it to her. It's a heart-shaped door hanger and embellished in pink...of which I am aware are Byby's favourites. If you want to check out the door hanger, pop over to Byby's blog.

I've completed one layout after much inspirational motivation from Nad...she was churning layout after layout in just a few days. Wah!!

Plus now that I've got a scrapping target for 2009...I thought I'd better start moving.

I've finally used my Hambly transparency. Had it cut ready to use on a layout but I never found the right layout up till now.

So now I'm left with 33 more SB creations till the end of 2009!

Am now currently working on a mini SB project.

My Scrapping Target for 2009

This idea was initiated by Wati in the ScrappinKids forum.

Some of the ladies in the forum really set their target high...one even has put her target for 150!! WHAAAA!!

But I've seen their ability and I know they can reach their target in no time at all.

For me, I thought I'd be more realistic with myself. So what I've set myself to do is 38 scrapbook layouts and altered creations. Why 38? hee!! hee!

Something to remind myself of my age, perhaps?!?!? :wink:

Up to date, I have done 5 LOs and creations. In fact, I just did 1 layout yesterday and an altered creation the day before....so now I'm left with 33 more to go.

Woohoo!! Ok...I'm cheering myself on....

oh yes...I think I'll put this counter up in my blog......as a constant reminder to myself.

My Weekend Getaway

....was absolutely GREAT!

The plane ride took only 25 mins to KK...and we were greeted with the sight of the new modern airport when we landed early morning yesterday.

Treated to shopping for myself ....heheh!! What was most fun was that there's Daiso at 1Borneo! Yup...it's just an ordinary shop packed with all sorts of Japanese stuff...really practical stuff and everything in there just cost RM5 each (in Singapore, even better S$2.00 only!). It's a good bargain esp. when you're buying big stuff. To anybody, stuff there are just cool practical stuff. But to a scrapper, there are great stuff for scrapping/altering!

Well, I'm back now after that short but fun getaway.

Now to face the week ahead!

Thank goodness CNY will be on Monday...so it'll be a long weekend!

Woohoo!!

An Altered File for SIL

Remember I mentioned that my sis-in-law came by on New Year's Day...she gave me a file for me to alter. This file will be used for her school lesson's preparation. I've finally completed after working on it for almost the whole day today.

I've used 2 contrasting coloured alpha stickers for each letter of the name hence the effect you see. And I've finally used my QuicKutz Sophisticate swirly clear stamps to give that swirly look at the bottom of the file. For the words at the top part of the file, I stamped with ProvoCraft clear alpha stamps.

Got to finally use my BG Sultry PP for my cut-outs. Didn't 3D-ed the cutouts as I think this file will be handled quite often. After completing something like this, doesn't it feel like you're ready to undertake another layout/alteration? I AM!....except that it's now past midnight and tomorrow is an early day for the household when the kids start their first day of school.

Anyway, I still owe a card to somebody...heh heh! That'll be my next priority.

Submissions can be in the form of scrapbook layouts or altered stuff. I've created something in between....hee!

I just had my sis-in-law come by and she's given me something to alter for her! Can't wait to start on this! Woohoo!! But now I'm hungry so am gonna go bring my girls out for dinner. Yes! A Girly Night out with my daughters! yay!

Wondering where's DH?!?! Well...he's gone off south of Brunei to visit a sick relative and won't be back till Tuesday (not Monday apparently)! Sob! Sob! Like the kids will all be starting school...sigh...what to do...duty calls... (duty to the family, I mean)

Another one for Sarah

My "hutang" for Sarah is completed and delivered!! YAY!!

I've finally put up the last touches onto a layout which displays Shop@Sarahs' opening hours. Here I've used the Prima Paintables. These papers are really lovely to work with. For this particular layout, I've used felt pens and colour pencils. These papers are really great with watercolours and inks too as they are designed not to buckle up too much when coloured with paints. I think I'll have to get more of these for here.

Placing those letters sure wasn't any easy! In fact I've also added a flower and "stickled" some letters (not in the picture) before I gave to Sarah.

ScrappinKids has just celebrated its 1st anniversary in October 2008 and now that we've come towards the end of the year, ScrappinKids has even more fun plans for 2009. They have got a bunch of amazingly inspirational ladies who has just joined the Design Team. And what's even more exciting for ScrappinKids is that 2 great scrapping mommies have joined the Resident Designer Team!! Cookie & Issa - who are ladies just full of great creativity!! And even more great news - Jessy Christopher is in the ScrappinKids Team as the Creative Advisor! I tell you this lady is such a package! Her creative ideas are never-ending....and moreover, she's such a sweetie!! Congratulations to all of these ladies!!

Time has moved on and with more commitments elsewhere, with a heavy heart I have decided to resign as ScrappinKids' Resident Designer. It sure has been difficult to make this decision as my heart keeps on telling me to hang on to it. Yes, ScrappinKids is sentimental to me. (ok! I'm being mushy mushy here!).

ScrappinKids was a special place I had "grew" up in and what's most memorable is through it I've made many friends from other parts of the world especially within the Southeast Asia region.

I was indeed extremely honoured that Wati & Liza brought me & Leena to join the ScrappinKids team as Resident Designers.
My! Wasn't I jumping up & down when I received Wati's e-mail inviting me to join! Well....not literally jumping but my heart sure felt like that.

It was a real pleasure to have been involved in the birth of ScrappinKids...and am proud of Wati & Liza as between both of them, they have given so much to ScrappinKids up to what it is now - a fun place for mommy scrappers! Among us 4 mommies, we had 7 children (3 girls & 4 boys) LOL!! And as the only mommy with 3 girls, my so-called "trademark" in ScrappinKids was girly girl layouts in pinks and reds while Wati, Liza & Leena were producing fabulous boy layouts. I must admit I find it quite a bit of a hurdle scrapping a boy layout...but not for these 3 amazing ladies!

So to SCRAPPINKIDS, thank you so so so much for making me a part of YOU!!
And a special thanks to Wati & Liza for believing in me. Love you guys!!

Creative Week for Me & My Girls

It was a good week for me...though nerve-wrecking (as always) when it comes to doing some commissioned work.

A good friend on mine is opening shop for the first time today! Woohoo!! I'm really so happy for her. Congratulations dear Sarah Dee!!

So she asked me to make an OPEN/CLOSED sign for her to hang on her shop door. I'm really honoured that she's asked me to do this for her. Although she has told me earlier her store's colour concept...I just couldn't get the creative side of my brain to get cracking until yesterday! Hee!! Yes Sarah, I didn't do it till last minute! Ilham atu barutah kan datang kemarin!! I finished it yesterday and had it delivered to her shop right after I completed it. Ooooo...and I had a sneak in her cute little shop. hee! hee! Love the colours and concept! It was a pity I didn't get to meet Sarah as she was busy elsewhere. Anyway Sarah, hope you like the sign I did! (psst...ada lagi hutang ku arah mu! heh heh!)

Anyway, Sarah's shop opening is TODAY!!! So do pop by Q-lap Mall and check it out! She's on the 1st floor just next to the escalator that goes up from the ground floor.

While trying to figure how about I was going to create Sarah's sign, Zuby came over to ask me to create a layout to display her "permintaan" for her engagement ceremony. I asked her what her favourite colours were and guess what!?! She likes purple and pink! Thank Goodness! I had the perfect Webster's Pages PP and lovely Prima Crystals to work it. And created it yesterday as well. Here it is...the finished product. Although simple, I love this.

As for my girls, yes...it has been a creative week for them as well. Nabilah & Iman had a 3-day craft class at Da Vinci (Delima) and they created a wind chime, a pen-stand, an Ocean-in-a-Bottle and some fridge magnets. Will share pics of these on a later post.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha

.....to all my Muslim family & friends.....

We didn't start going out till about 12 noon. DH went off early to attend the Hari Raya prayers at the mosque. And the kids woke up late (this is usual for them when it's the holidays).

Anyway, the first house we went had "nasi talam kambing" and I had about 4-5 slices of blueberry cheesecake! Then the 2nd house we went had a display of various food & dessert!! They had Sugar & Spice came over as well!

Filling or what!?!?!

Tonight will be another gathering at my sis-in-law's.

Anyway, as promised in my last blog post I'm sharing pics of what I've received from this great talent. Thanks so much dear Rozi! I really love them! Love those little bells!

Iman asked me if I can give her one of the books! Waaaah!

I shall be putting the books to good use...am gonna fill them with my scrapping works. But I won't start on them right away as I've gotta make sure they are properly planned. These books are just too beautiful! The real treasure is that they are hand-made and exclusively created. If you haven't checked her out, why not pop by her blog. And she holds book-binding classes too!

Snakes and painted hands

Here are pics of the kids during the BIBD Charity Event.

Nadya decided that the bouncer is her choice.

Nabilah and Syafiee braved themselves with the snakes. And I saw a really big PYTHON in one of the cages.....eeeeksss...just gives me the creeps! Even as I type this, I get goosebumps!

Iman preferred having a painted flower on her hand by her. But I totally forgot to take a pic of her and her in action! So sorry dears!

And I just had to share this pic of Nadya's latest face gesture in front of the camera.

I came home after the evening gathering in 2 places and found a little paper bag waiting for me. This talented lady dropped it by while I was out. She called me whilst I was not at home, and said that she'll be sending something to my house. I didn't expect it would be these lovely things. I shall be sharing what she sent me in my next blog post.

It was a lovely weekend with the kids....and now I've got something that I need to do for a good friend urgently. So Inspiration, if you're reading this - I urgently need your help!

Family outing

I've just got back home after a long outing with the family.

Our day started with attending a relatives wedding and got to meet my siblings & cuz.

Then we got back and rested for a while before changing and brought the whole family to Yayasan where BIBD was having a charity event there. She and she were there doing their bit. And she was there emcee-ing the whole event.

Nadya loved the bouncer, whereas Syafiee tried the Gladiator.

After much persuasion, Nabilah and Iman had their hands painted (instead of face) by her.

But the highlight of the day was Nabilah holding snakes at the reptile show! EEEeekkkss! I don't know where she got the nerve to hold those creatures! She persuaded Iman to join her but Iman ran off covering her eyes!! LOL!!

We had a few pics taken...and I'll be sharing these later.

Now I'm off to DH's relative for a solat jemaah gathering....Will come back later!

WOW!! It's already the last month of 2008!

Time sure has flown by fast!

It's already December! Next year, DS will be preparing for his PSR exams (yup! back to being nervous for the mom!). I've already warned him not to play too much! We've packed away his PS2, but he's still very much into his Bionicle toys. DH just came back from overseas and got him a few more Bionicle toys for him. But then it's ok for him to play, right.......every kid needs to play.

Nadya is also now beginning to talk and getting more mischievous everyday. I'm enjoying all her antics! She's such a comic!

On a scrapping note, challenges are now up at both ScrappinKids and ScrapInspireCreate. Both are equally fun, so come on and join us!

ScrappinKids' challenge this month is to scrap a layout of your kids and his/her pressies. Here's my take:

November's Challenges

Another new month and new challenges at SK & SIC.

ScrappinKids has just announced the November challenge - "Bloodline". Your submission is to be a layout of your kid/s and their grandparents, aunts, uncles or cousins showing their likes and similarities or even just the moments they enjoyed.
Here's my take:

When we (siblings) gather, it'll be fun time for our kids. Iman is always one who tend to be looked up to by her younger cousins. She's like the Pied Piper or something. Even my nephew Kholil's favourite colour is PINK!! Aaarghh!! That is how great the influence is Iman has on them.
Oh that's Kholil in the most left (yup!! the one with the screwed up face!)
As Iman is a girly girl, Aqilah (that cutie on the right) loves to play with her too and oftens looks for "Kakak Iman".
Aqilah is a Barbie movie fan who loves ballet and all things pink too! And Iman is just that as well!
Well...except Iman doesn't dream to be a real ballerina whereas Aqilah is!

Anyway, there's another challenge up as well this month.
ScrapInspireCreate is inviting all scrappers to submit as many cards as possible in conjunction with World Cardmaking Day. The Creative Crew will then get to choose their favourite card and will be making a card for their fave card-maker. On top of that, there'll be a bonus RAK for the MOST INNOVATIVE CARD EVER! So why not put on that creative cap and show us your most creative cards!

For this challenge, I created a simple card as I was coincidently asked to make a birthday card for someone's mum who will be turning 80 this Sunday. This card is already on the way to its owner on the other side of the world.

This is created very simple for an 80 year old lady. I've also left the inside blank for the personal message.

SK Marathon - 2nd challenge

Anyway, here's the challenge:

I need you to come up with the MOST CREATIVE PHOTO MATTING EVER in your scrapbook layout. You are not to use the usual cardstock matting. But nevertheless the use of cardstock is allowed but must be used in the MOST CREATIVE WAY.

Your layout can be of any theme. So hurry ladies!! You've got till 9 a.m. tomorrow!

Happy 1st Birthday ScrappinKids!

ScrappinKids just turned 1 this month!!
And it has been a great journey for our first one year!

And to celebrate ScrappinKids 1st year there will a SK Marathon @ 9 beginning 25th till 29th October 2008. The marathon will begin on 25th October at 9 a.m. and a clue will be posted in the blog leading to challenges and more clues every 9 a.m. for those 5 days. Brunei will begin the 1st day of Ramadhan tomorrow. To all my Muslim family and friends, Selamat Berpuasa and may we be blessed in this special month.

Ok....the full reveal of the sneaks I showed yesterday.
ScrappinKids and SIC have already announced their respective challenges for this month.

ScrappinKids' challenge is cutely titled "Mini Me" and we are to show a pic of our kid which when you see it, you immediately say to yourself "Now, that is so me!"
It was indeed a challenge for me looking for the right photo until I found this pic of Syafiee. I was so happy I found it! Yes indeed, I was exactly like Syafiee at around the same age as he is now. Loving to read just before I sleep and sometimes ending up with the book still open and me in Dreamland already. LOL!!

ScrapInspireCreate has this easy challenge which I'm sure any scrapper, new or seasoned, will love. The challenge is called {Embellies Galore} and all you need to do is create either a layout or altered creation featuring what else, but your favourite embellishments!

I love many embellishments but I tend to find that I must have flowers in my layout...definitely rub-ons (esp. the swirls & flourishes)...and sometimes a touch of bling.
So, here it is!

And please do come and play along in both exciting challenges!

Being plain lazy

Yup....am just being a lazy person nowadays.....being a couch potato! LOL!!

I have been hit by the K-Drama addiction...and have been buying boxes and boxes of DVDs....watching series after series.

Just like buying SB stash.....the rate of buying the DVDs is higher than the rate at which I watch them!
I've got plenty more to watch and still hooked on them!

On the SB front, a few DT assignments to accomplish and hope to share with you all here soon. But with the upcoming fasting month so near, there are lots of 'doa arwah' and weddings to attend too! In fact, I'll be attending one tonight....sigh!

I've finally finished my mini pop-up album last night after having to leave it incomplete for 2 nights in a row.

It was terrible! I had a real bad migraine for the past few days and I couldn't push myself to complete my pop-up album although I really wanted to!

Anyway, it's done now. Completed it last night....and I've yet to take pics of it and share it here with you.

Online Crop @ ScrappinKids Forum

Attended a fun online crop at ScrappinKids forum. We had an online challenge followed by a mini tutorial.

The online challenge was to be inspired by the Singapore flag in conjunction with Singapore's National Day.

I haven't completed my mini pop-up book from last night's tutorial. Will post it once I've completed it and share with you all. Now I'm off to print some pics for it!

Bionicle Freak

Yup! My son is just that! A Bionicle freak!!

Eversince he watched the movie, he has been "researching" all the characters that's in this collection. Believe me, there is even a wikipedia just for Bionicle - Bioniclepedia. Do check it out to believe it!! LOL!! And my son does his research on this website!

Bionicle is created by one of the great toy brand, Lego.

So when we told the kids of our upcoming trip to Singapore, I told him that he can buy some Bionicle toys. Man! Was he excited when I said that!!

We got him some of the characters....interesting toys which need to be assembled first. And two characters can combine to become one! Toys nowadays!! *shakes head*

In fact, whilst I'm typing this, he's right near me with his Bionicle toys!

I've just completed a mini project after much inspiration from a gift that I got from Liza.

Hi everyone!!
I'm still having a fab time away with the family!

Babes, if you are reading this....thanks so much for having us! Kids really enjoyed their time with and it was really lovely to have met you both! Will share some pics of the kids later...

Anyway, just sharing some layouts for now.

Once again it's the beginning of the month....ScrappinKids and ScrapInspireCreate have already announced their new fun August challenges. And I'm lagging in doing my part for the shout-out...

It's SpLasHy FuN @ ScrappinKids this August where the challenge is to create a layout of your lil ones fun time in the water!! I created a simple one, which is just not my style...blame it on the mojo!!! I attempted to create a ripple effect with cardstock....mmmmm....let's just say, it's not my style! LOL!!

ScrapInspireCreate has another fun challenge this August. It's a sketch challenge this month! The Guest Designer and the creative crew members have each produce a sketch for you to use in your layout creation. Simple isn't it...and of course, FUN!! So come on over to SIC's blog and get scrapping with the many sketches. You can submit as many layouts as you want! No limitations!!

This is my sketch and my take for the sketch I did..

Oh yes....the shout-out! ScrappinKids will be having an online crop in their forum and this is gonna be another fun one! Cos not only will there be an online crop...there will be a online mini-tutorial..... a MINI POP-UP ALBUM!!
And this will be hosted by Wati. Oh my! Almost forgot to mention the date....it will be on the 9th August. So make sure that you have it noted down in your calendar!! Sharing some layouts...

As promised in my previous post, here are some of my layouts which I've created.

Did this for the ScrappinKids July challenge, which is about your child's achievement aptly titled "I DiD iT".

This time I scrapped about Nabilah who has recently came back from a 1-night stay in Temburong within the rainforest jungle. She got to experience many outdoor activities including doing the Rainforest Canopy Walk. This was her first time away (overnight) from us doing a school activity. And for her an achievement as she got to do things that she has never done before.

Another layout I'm sharing is a layout of Iman and one of her lil cousins, Aqilah.

This layout was done for Scrap-n-Crop using their Best Friends Day kit.

Another 2 layouts I thought I'd share...these I did for my "No Scrapbook Shopping Challenge" last month.

Some of you may have noticed that I've used that photo of Nadya before. I love this photo of her as it's her with her favourite comfort, her "kain" or rather "tateh" (as she calls it!).

Another layout of Nadya....this time using Tinkering Ink papers and a Buzz & Bloom flourish chipboard.

An Absolute Blast Today!!

The ScrapInspireCreate's 1st Crop Party was an absolute BLAST!! Both the creative crew and the scrappers were fantastic!!

We had 2 photogs who came and got...what I'm sure...were tons of pics of the good time that we had! (hint! hint! to D & B! no worries about what you may think are lousy shots cos to us scrappers, it's the memories that count!)

And we had this lady who came back to Brunei for her vacation (and a friend's big day)! Thanks Nui dear for coming to this crop! Missed ya!

Big thanks to Emily, Vivi & Jessie for helping making the crop such an unforgettable one!! And to Naddy, wished you were with us! But we know you were in spirit with us! (*hugs*)
